What was it like?

Well, may women thought me very brave to open my home to a bunch of strangers, since we all know how many freaks wonder the streets of NY and who knows what freak might knock on the door next, right?

Fortunately, though, there were no freaks and we all had a great time. There was lots of food and there are many, many left overs, some of which I fed to my fat German, some to my students, some waiting for my writers tomorrow night and bags of cookies to be sent to the Childrens Aid fundraiser...

My walk-thru railroad apt is tiny and we had to make room for all of us plus the food and wine, but other than a mishap w/Susan's mom's gorgeously prepared zitti, which almost fell off the cheap stove and then exploded in the microwave, everything went fine. Dana is a self-proclaimed extrovert and clearly also a very good organiser who had us all sitting in a circle while she created name tags for us w/funny lines. Then we wrote relevant info on ourselves in bright yellow index crads, the ones I used today to create this blog. After much bumping into one another, introductions, discussion on mothers, and people who had to leave earlier than others, it was decided to meet once a month and do different things each time, activities volunteered by all and from which we can all vote and then decide upon for the next time.

** More get togethers such as this to get to know one another...
** Movies and coffee shops
** Restaurants
** Wine Tastings
** Sport Activities
** Scrabble Games
** Stree Fairs, such as the Chinese New Years'
** Volunteer w/certain projects, such as w/children's hospitals etc

For now, although the date is not set in stone, our next meetign will be on Tuesday January 13th, 2004,
at the same time... venue and activity to be determined...
So far, ideas are:
For news: It's Charlenes'b-day on the 23rd of the month, Julieanne is soon to be converted to Judaism due to her partner-soon-to-be-husband's faith, and I'll be off to Argentina on the 26th until at least the 11th of Januray, if not longer

The idea is to keep in touch via email and with anyone or any group you feel a connection to.

Happy Hols to All!!

Florencia
